Computers
are everywhere today. Computers are how people stay in contact, between work,
personal, schools or just for entertainment. Would computers be as useful
without the connectivity of the internet and the ability to connect that they
allow. Specifically speaking though how have computers helped in my education
process? Well if we start from the very beginning you use computers to research
schools, computers are used to register for school, to apply for classes, to do
homework, to find out what materials you use in the class. And almost
everything in school requires you to have a computer, but not just a computer
but to be connected to your classes, to submit assignments.
Even before you graduate from high school the college
process is beginning. You are researching what college you want to go into you
are researching what classes to take, what major to declare. That can all be
done online. Through the internet you are able to search the schools, even if
they are around the world. The access computers give you would take day’s maybe
weeks to get done without the internet. I was able to choose between colleges
with my computer.
When it came time to apply to the college of my choice I was
able to apply and get accepted all from the comfort of my own house, from my
computer. From there I was able to apply for classes and research majors. I was
able to look at activities going on around campus and get connected with other
students. I learned about what to expect at Weber State University.
Once school I was able to submit assignments, and even
take classes from my computer. While in classes I can easily take notes from my
computer or record a lecture. I can research the work we are doing in class for
a deeper purpose. Computers themselves are very useful, It allows those of us
who don’t have the most artist hand in writing to break that barrier and submit
nice and organized work.
Another really appealing fact about computers is you are
able to take them with you. We have advanced in technology that we are able to
pick up all our work and carry it with us where ever we go. We are able to stay
in contact as though we were in the classroom. It would be hard to imagine what
college would be like before the capability to type a paper to have to hand
write it. Instead of being able to search the web for information, having to go
to the library and search through dozens of encyclopedias. What use to be
several hours of work, can now be done with the push of a few buttons.
Computers play a role in education that is unmatched by
anything else ever in history. The ability to complete assignments, to
research, to connect. It is amazing how far we have come in technology and
difficult to imagine what the future technology holds for students and the
world in the future.
It
will be interested to see how things change in the future, if instead of
researching how to do something yourself if classes will teach you how to contact
someone else in another place in the world and have them do some part of the
work and learn how to outsource. Have you travel and study how a country builds
something better than other countries because of resources readily more available
to them, so you understand why it is important why you hire certain companies
over other companies based on where they are located in the world. It all
starts in the schools and with the students.
